1) Hold camera very still or use a tripod
2) know how to use the manual focus on camera or auto focus
3) focus on the person in the picture and not the background
4) focusing on eyes has a tendency to soften skin
5) kiss keep it simple stupid
6) narrow depth of field/ if everything is in focus make sure the background is uncluttered
